At Orange Pearl Innovation Group it is our purpose to create products that make the world a better place. In line with this purpose we have created innovative technology that allows entrepreneurs in upcoming economies to create value out of waste. By doing this, we empower locals to start business that are economically successful whilst having a great positive effect on our world; just like we do at Orange Pearl!
The problem
The plastic problem is a much-discussed and well-known phenomenon worldwide. In many countries, the lack of recycling results in the large-scale incineration of plastic waste. This plastic has great potential value if handled correctly. The techniques currently available for recycling plastic are often too expensive and energy-intensive for poorer areas in developing countries. And that while it is precisely these areas that can benefit enormously from the potential economic value that this plastic material offers. If this plastic is not processed, it ends up in large landfills, is incinerated or ends up in the ocean via rivers.
Our solution
This ecological problem requires an economically responsible solution. That is why we encourage entrepreneurs to turn this plastic waste into their business. We do this by developing low-tech tools that can be produced and used on a local scale. In this way we tackle an ecological problem with a solution that offers opportunities for the local entrepreneur.
We call this UPstream Recycling. Upstream because the problem of plastic waste is tackled upstream at the source and because the entrepreneur is rising economically.

Vision
The world is consuming plastic at an increasing rate, resulting in growing environmental and social issues associated with plastic waste. Many developing regions of the world lack the infrastructure and advanced technology needed for conventional plastic recycling. We work towards a world in which locals have the opportunity to process plastic waste on a hyper-local scale to create valuable products.
Mission
Our mission is to transform the problem of plastic waste in developing regions from an environmental issue into an economic opportunity. We do this by providing local organizations with the tools and knowledge to spread low-tech recycling innovations amongst the local population. We call this project UPstream and it is one of the project through which we Flourish.
The Grow and Flourish Foundation
The UPstream Recycling project is our very own purpose project that is managed by the independent Grow and Flourish Foundation.

That is why we have founded the Grow and Flourish Foundation to spread the Grow and Flourish principles and to help companies to benefit from these principles.
